About Community Youth Records

Community Youth Records (CYR) is the world’s first youth led, youth run, and youth owned independent label launched in Jamaica.

Developed by a team of music industry professionals, youth workers, and financial services directors, the blockchain style model of the label allows young creatives, their fans, and also team to not only retain the rights of their music but to also retain the share of their imagery, merchandise, and intellectual property.

With music now becoming more digital, CYR gives young talent the opportunity to write, publish, and promote their music to the right demographic with any investment given by the label, recouped from the various income streams that the label helps them generate.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic the independent market share of digital streamed music has gone from below 0% to now strongly over 8%, making independent music such as Reggae, Dancehall and Rap the fastest growing markets worldwide and it’s time for Jamaica to capitalise on the global trend too.
