About CYJ
Bridging the gap between communities through music, film and media.

Founded in 2024 by a team of 20 music, film and television professionals, Community Youth Jamaica (CYJ) was launched to fill the education, training and employment gaps between poorer communities and commercial media — whilst addressing a range of social issues and needs including crime, poverty, finance and political literacy.
After over 15 years of experience and grassroots research both in the UK and across a number of parishes in Jamaica, CYJ has developed a program and strategy that reaches those who are often deemed hard to reach, teach or work with. Working right across the film, music and entertainment industries, CYJ has a work-based training solution to developing skills and talents both in front and behind the camera.
With a proven multi-agency approach — tried and tested in both the United Kingdom and United States — CYJ offers a range of accredited and industry-certified courses and programs for young people aged 13–18, and adults 18+, across:
- Music and film production
- Apprenticeships
- Entrepreneurship
- New tech and AI
- Business and talent management
- Podcasting and presenting
- Event management and production
- Marketing and promotion
- Distribution
- Publishing and royalty collections
